A truly enchanting, fairy-tale-like, anime short.
'Sayonara' was animated and directed by Niklas Rissler, who did it as a an homage to Japan and anime. A visit to the country made a big impression on him. Rissler is not the first artist who looks for inspiration to Japanese visual culture, anime and manga. But the thing with Rissler is that he’s done such an incredibly good job with this beautiful animation – the metaphors, the visual poetry, the zen-like sensibility – it’s all just so utterly Japanese! If you‘re a fan of anime, you’ll probably recognize the score, which Rissler took from a few of his anime favorites.
Niklas Rissler is with the Swedish creative agency Foreign Artists, a subsidiary of the Foreign advertising agency, based in Stockholm, Sweden. After seeing ‘Sayonara’, creative director Armin Osmancevic invited Rissler to work with him on the animated title sequence for ‘Made in Yu’.
