![]() 2 July: One of the eye-catching features of HBO's TV drama series Carnivàle was the meticulous art direction and the striking opening title sequence. The series won five Emmy's, including the 2004 Emmy for Outstanding Main Title Design. And deservedly so. The Carnivàle opener is one of the most thoroughly researched and immaculately executed TV titles. See it here The Poker Club ![]() 19 June: The titles of The Poker Club - a thriller scheduled for release later this year - were designed by NY based motion designer Dan Savage. It's a classic thriller title sequence - the score, the color scheme, the gun of course, and the splatters of blood all spell out MURDER! Savage got his inspiration for from the details of the card images, which, he says, reminded him of human organs... See it here Lucio ![]() 9 June: Lucio is a documentary about the legendary forger Lucio Urtubia, a.k.a. 'The Basque Zorro'. The titles are noteworthy, for the following 3 reasons: 1) they conjure up the atmosphere of a thriller, not a documentary; 2) Spanish motion designer Unai Guerra debuts as a film title designer (Forget the Film supports promising title designers); 3) Guerra used the original forgeries from the master himself for the credit sequence.
